An Unfortunate
Occurence

Now, no matter how much you plan, how free and easy you hope the world can be, it can be a dangerous place in all the excitement and general hub-bub of a freakin' crazy hurtling bike race. That's why we all have to be responsible sometimes, espescially when things happen beyond all of our control. We are all well aware that drunks do indeed stumble uncontrollably at times, yet are sad, dismayed, and upset that such things can occur ill-timed coincidentally with moments that should be about celebration, valor, trophy awarding, and the spraying of champagne. Tony R, winning the downhill, was most unceremoniously cut down to the very alley he was newly master of.

Wm. Steven Humphrey, reporter for Seattle's the Stranger, "a shitty weekly newspaper" as he refers to it, was at the race and fascinated by the ambulance and felt his shit-dredging soul moved to chase it, and get a picture. His article appears here. Please read his 400 words, 3 of them "illegal," four "hush"es, a few "police" and "cops," and the irritating "word of mouth" printed in the paper. And then I suggest intelligently nasty e-mails to steve@thestranger.com to perhaps shine a little positive light on his dark existance. I am sorry that he so missed the point.

Oh boy, oh boy oh boy.

Broken front tooth, needing a couple of stiches, and one hell of a headache. Not a lot of blood, all told.

The fallen winner is comforted by someone other than Wm. Steven Humphrey.
